Sustainable

I ran my 18 miler this morning in 2:48:51, or 9:23 pace. This pace seemed easily sustainable and I could have keep going but the schedule called for 18 so I did 18. I ran today at the Santa Ana River Trail in Yorba Linda where we used to always run with the Snail's Pace training group. It seems like I haven't run there in forever.

I ran today because tomorrow morning my wife and I get on an airplane to Miami. On Sunday we are boarding a cruise ship along with two other couples, friends of ours, for a week long cruise in the eastern Caribbean. I'm not sure how much running I'll be able to get in. The ship has a gym with treadmills, yuck, and an outdoor track that is a whopping 0.10 mile long. That's a whole lot of laps to get the scheduled 13 miler done on Saturday. Saturday is a "fun day" aboard ship, so we'll see how it goes.

Take it easy on me while I'm gone. I finally got caught up on almost all your blogs over the long weekend and a dare to think how far behind I'll be in my bloglines when I get back.

See you in a week. I'll be the one with the nice Caribbean tan!

Darrell,
Have a spectacular trip! I bet when you look back on it,whether or not you get your run in won't matter at all. The fun of the vacation will overshadow it all, and you can catch up on your training. Have fun!

have a wonderful trip!!! 130 laps is nothing! ;)

Just put 130 peanuts in your pocket and eat one for each lap. You'll get your salt and won't lose count.

Shelled peanuts or people will really look at you strange.

have a great trip

I'm not sure which is worse. Running on a treadmill or doing 13 miles on a .1 mile loop! I like the 130 loops option (I think)

have a great time!!

I think I might opt for the dreadmill over a .1 mile loop! Hope you're having a great time. :)

Sounds like a good time to have a cut back week of training.

I hope you don't get too sunburned. That can hurt when running if it's in the wrong places.

What fun! Enjoy the vacation. If you don't get that many runs in, it's OK. You'll be back at it when you return. Enjoy the sunshine and relaxation. :)

Try to enjoy yourself. Go for a run on the deck of the ship and try to stay in shape even though they will be shoving food in your face at every possible moment.

That tanning stuff is more dangerous than running trails along cliffs. Use that SPF!

Cheers!

I'd go stir crazy on a boat - but I hope you have a great trip!

I LOVE cruises!

don't expect to get much running in... it's definitely a low week!

I found that running outside, when the boat is near to leaving port is a great time because people aren't really outside much to get in your way of the 1,000 laps you have to make to run 3 miles.

okay okay, you're not allowed to have a vacation this long if we can't go too. ;)
